เศรษฐกิจไทยขยายตัวชะลอลงจากการระบาดระลอกใหม่ตั้งแต่ช่วงต้นปี 2564 รวมถึงมาตรการในการจำกัดกิจกรรมทางเศรษฐกิจที่เข้มงวดในบางพื้นที่ ขณะที่การส่งออกของประเทศไทยฟื้นตัวตามเศรษฐกิจโลก โดยเฉพาะกลุ่มประเทศเศรษฐกิจหลักที่มีแนวโน้มขยายตัวจากพัฒนาการการแจกจ่ายวัคซีน และมาตรการกระตุ้นเศรษฐกิจที่ออกมาต่อเนื่อง อย่างไรก็ดี ประเทศไทยยังคงเผชิญกับความท้าทายจากภาคการท่องเที่ยวที่มีความ
ไม่แน่นอนในการเปิดรับนักท่องเที่ยวของไทยในช่วงครึ่งหลังของปีนี้ ในไตรมาสต่อ ๆ ไป แนวโน้มของเศรษฐกิจไทยจะขึ้นอยู่กับประสิทธิภาพในการควบคุมการแพร่ระบาดของโควิดและการกระจายวัคซีนให้กับประชาชน นอกจากนี้ มาตรการช่วยเหลือจากภาครัฐจะมีส่วนช่วยพยุงการใช้จ่ายของภาคครัวเรือนในช่วงหลายเดือนข้างหน้าเช่นกัน
การฟื้นตัวของเศรษฐกิจไทยยังต้องใช้เวลา รวมถึงการฟื้นตัวของแต่ละภาคเศรษฐกิจยังมีความแตกต่างกัน รัฐบาลและธนาคารแห่งประเทศไทยจึงได้ดำเนินการออกมาตรการต่าง ๆ อย่างต่อเนื่อง เพื่อช่วยเหลือ
ภาคธุรกิจและประชาชนที่ประสบปัญหาที่แตกต่างกัน และเป็นการสนับสนุนการฟื้นตัวของเศรษฐกิจ ตลอดจนเพื่อรองรับให้ผู้ประกอบธุรกิจสามารถปรับตัวให้เข้ากับสถานการณ์ภายหลังโควิด-19 ตามฐานวิถีชีวิตใหม่ ธนาคารมีความเข้าใจถึงสถานการณ์ที่ลูกค้าธุรกิจและลูกค้าบุคคลกำลังเผชิญในขณะนี้ ธนาคารจึงยังคงเน้น
การดูแลลูกค้าอย่างใกล้ชิด และให้ความช่วยเหลือกับลูกค้าแต่ละกลุ่มอย่างเหมาะสม พร้อมทั้งให้ความสำคัญในการบริหารความเสี่ยงให้อยู่ในระดับที่เหมาะสม ขณะที่ยังคงรักษาเสถียรภาพฐานะการเงิน สภาพคล่อง และเงินกองทุนให้อยู่ในระดับที่แข็งแกร่ง
กำไรสุทธิของธนาคารกรุงเทพและบริษัทย่อยสำหรับไตรมาส 1 ปี 2564 จำนวน 6,923 ล้านบาท
ธนาคารกรุงเทพและบริษัทย่อยรายงานกำไรสุทธิในไตรมาส 1 ปี 2564 จำนวน 6,923 ล้านบาท เพิ่มขึ้น 4,525 ล้านบาท จากไตรมาส 4 ปี 2563 โดยมีรายได้ดอกเบี้ยสุทธิเพิ่มขึ้นร้อยละ 2.3 จากค่าใช้จ่ายดอกเบี้ย เงินรับฝากลดลงจากการบริหารต้นทุนเงินรับฝาก และส่วนต่างอัตราดอกเบี้ยสุทธิอยู่ที่ร้อยละ 2.17 สำหรับรายได้ค่าธรรมเนียมและบริการสุทธิเพิ่มขึ้นร้อยละ 15.4 จากค่าธรรมเนียมการให้บริการกองทุนรวมและบริการประกันผ่านธนาคาร และค่าธรรมเนียมจากธุรกิจหลักทรัพย์ ขณะที่ค่าใช้จ่ายจากการดำเนินงานลดลง ส่งผลให้อัตราส่วนค่าใช้จ่ายต่อรายได้จากการดำเนินงานอยู่ที่ร้อยละ 51.1 ทั้งนี้ ธนาคารยังคงตั้งสำรองตามหลักความระมัดระวังอย่างต่อเนื่อง โดยตั้งสำรองผลขาดทุนด้านเครดิตที่คาดว่าจะเกิดขึ้นจำนวน 6,326 ล้านบาท
ธนาคารกรุงเทพยังคงดำรงฐานะการเงิน สภาพคล่อง และเงินกองทุนให้อยู่ในระดับที่แข็งแกร่ง ตามแนวทางการดำเนินธุรกิจด้วยความระมัดระวังและรอบคอบ เพื่อรองรับการฟื้นตัวของเศรษฐกิจไทยที่ยังมีความไม่แน่นอนสูง ณ สิ้นเดือนมีนาคม 2564 ธนาคารมีเงินให้สินเชื่อจำนวน 2,369,276 ล้านบาท อยู่ในระดับใกล้เคียงกับสิ้นปี 2563 สำหรับอัตราส่วนเงินให้สินเชื่อที่มีการด้อยค่าด้านเครดิตต่อเงินให้สินเชื่อรวมอยู่ที่ร้อยละ 3.7 ลดลงเล็กน้อยจากสิ้นปีก่อน โดยธนาคารยังคงให้ความสำคัญในการดูแลกระบวนการอำนวยสินเชื่อและบริหารความเสี่ยง ทั้งนี้ อัตราส่วนค่าเผื่อผลขาดทุนด้านเครดิตต่อเงินให้สินเชื่อที่มีการด้อยค่าด้านเครดิตอยู่ที่ร้อยละ 187.3
ด้านสภาพคล่อง ณ วันที่ 31 มีนาคม 2564 ธนาคารมีเงินรับฝากจำนวน 2,904,276 ล้านบาท เพิ่มขึ้นร้อยละ 3.3 จากสิ้นปี 2563 โดยเพิ่มขึ้นจากเงินรับฝากทุกประเภท สำหรับอัตราส่วนเงินให้สินเชื่อต่อเงินรับฝากอยู่ที่ร้อยละ 81.6 สะท้อนถึงสภาพคล่องที่เพียงพอในการรองรับความไม่แน่นอนทางเศรษฐกิจ
ด้านเงินกองทุน ณ วันที่ 31 มีนาคม 2564 ธนาคารมีอัตราส่วนเงินกองทุนทั้งสิ้น อัตราส่วนเงินกองทุนชั้นที่ 1 และอัตราส่วนเงินกองทุนชั้นที่ 1 ที่เป็นส่วนของเจ้าของต่อสินทรัพย์เสี่ยงของธนาคารและบริษัทย่อยอยู่ที่ร้อยละ 18.4 ร้อยละ 15.9 และร้อยละ 15.1 ตามลำดับ ซึ่งอยู่ในระดับที่สูงกว่าอัตราส่วนเงินกองทุนขั้นต่ำตามที่ธนาคารแห่งประเทศไทยกำหนด

Bangkok Bank reported a net profit of Baht 6,923 million for the first quarter
Since the beginning of the year the Thai economy has been expanding at a slower pace as Thailand has been experiencing a new wave of Covid-19 infections and tighter restrictions on economic activities in some parts of the country. However, Thailand’s exports have continued to recover in line with global economic outlook on the back of rapid vaccination rollout and continuing policy stimulus, especially in advanced economies. Thailand continues to face challenges in the tourism sector given the uncertainty over the timing of border reopening in the second half of 2021. In the coming quarters, the Thai economic outlook will depend on how well it is able to contain the pandemic, as well as the effectiveness of the vaccination rollout. Moreover, the government’s nationwide cash handouts should partially support household spending in the coming months.
The Thai economy will take some time to recover from the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic and the recovery in each economic sector will occur at a different pace. The government and the Bank of Thailand have continuously introduced various measures to support businesses and people dealing with different issues, help business operators adjust to the post Covid-19 new normal, and assist Thailand’s economic recovery. The Bank understands the current challenging situation that businesses and customers are facing and continues to support its customers and provide them with appropriate assistance. Moreover, the Bank has also placed importance on prudent risk management while maintaining strong financial stability, liquidity and capital positions.
Bangkok Bank and its subsidiaries delivered first quarter net profit of Baht 6,923 million
The Bank and its subsidiaries reported a net profit of Baht 6,923 million, increased by Baht 4,525 million from the last quarter of 2020. Net interest income increased by 2.3 percent due to funding cost management. The net interest margin stood at 2.17 percent. Net fees and service income rose by 15.4 percent mainly from higher fee income from mutual funds and bancassurance, and securities business. Operating expenses decreased, resulting in a cost to income ratio of 51.1 percent. The level of expected credit losses was set at Baht 6,326 million in line with the Bank’s continuous prudent management.
Bangkok Bank continues to maintain a healthy financial position, as well as high liquidity and capital positions, under its prudent management approach to supporting Thailand’s economic recovery during uncertain times
At the end of March 2021, the Bank’s total loans amounted to Baht 2,369,276 million, same level as at the end of 2020. The non-performing loan (NPL) ratio was 3.7 percent, slightly declined from the end of December 2020. The Bank continues to closely control of credit underwriting and risk management. The ratio of loan loss reserves to non-performing loans was 187.3 percent.
In terms of liquidity, as of March 31, 2021, the Bank’s deposits amounted to Baht 2,904,276 million, an increase of 3.3 percent from the end of December 2020, from all types of deposits. The loan to deposit ratio was 81.6 percent, reflecting adequate liquidity to cushion against economic uncertainties.
In terms of capital, as of March 31, 2021, the Bank’s total capital adequacy ratio, Tier 1 capital adequacy ratio and Common Equity Tier 1 capital adequacy ratio of the Bank and its subsidiaries were 18.4 percent, 15.9 percent and 15.1 percent respectively, comfortably above the Bank of Thailand’s minimum capital requirements.
