KBTG launches Tech Kampus program, joining with universities and public organizations to develop education and produce IT personnel for Thai and global markets

KASIKORN Business-Technology Group (KBTG) has teamed with public organizations and universities in organizing the Tech Kampus project with the aim of developing Thai education quality and IT personnel to broaden their learning perspectives, promoting R&D on new technologies which can be further developed into innovations for Thai businesses. The Tech Kampus will incubate IT personnel to serve the Thai and global markets.

Mr. Ruangroj Poonpol, KBTG Chairman, revealed that as a leading Thai tech company, KBTG has always emphasized the importance of personnel and development of their technological capacity and learning skills, as well as research and development (R&D) on new technologies that are in step with the worlds of today and tomorrow. Most IT students and personnel in Thailand are still lacking a chance to learn from hands-on experience, especially under the guidance of IT gurus.

KBTG, therefore, has launched the Tech Kampus project in collaboration with two public organizations, namely the National Electronics and Computer Technology Center and Artificial Intelligence Association of Thailand, along with seven universities, comprising the Asian Institute of Technology, Chulalongkorn University’s Faculty of Engineering,  King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang’s Faculty of Information Technology, Kasetsart University, Thammasat University’s College of Innovation,  CMKL University and Mahidol University International College. Under this project, KBTG’s IT specialists will be assigned to transfer and exchange knowledge with students at these universities. Moreover, KBTG will cooperate with them in curriculum development and improvement of education quality, particularly in the fields of data science and artificial intelligence (AI), plus conducting and capitalizing on new technology research.

Additionally, KBTG will accept students from these universities to study, train and conduct new technology research with KBTG. Once completed, they should be ready to embark on a career and immediately apply the knowledge and skills gained at KBTG to IT jobs that are in high demand. They are also more likely to create innovations using biometrics and facial recognition technologies, for instance, in improving online service and ‘smart branch’ concepts for KBank’s clients and Thai consumers in the future.

Mr. Ruangroj added that KBTG has recently participated in several efforts to invent and develop new technology for public organizations, including the Thai Natural Language Processing (Thai NLP) project, which is a branch of artificial intelligence (AI) aiming to bridge the gap between humans and computers in the communication of natural language. The project has been jointly developed with Thailand’s National Electronics and Computer Technology Center (NECTEC) and Chulalongkorn University. At present, the innovation has been further refined into chatbots – AI software that now operates on KBank Live and LINE BK. In addition, the technology has also been utilized as a social listening tool and in research on facial recognition. KBTG has worked in tandem with the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) to develop face liveness detection, which can verify a person’s identity and counter biometric spoofing attacks. It has also joined hands with Chulalongkorn University in the development of CU NEX – an innovation that responds to the needs of CU students and personnel in their daily lives, ensuring an improved quality of life in both work and study. The platform is designed to encourage all users to rapidly boost their potential, and steer Chulalongkorn University towards becoming a “Digital Lifestyle University”.
